Teen Program

Ballet

All levels including Pre-Pointe, Pointe: Cecchetti technique is taught through Barre & Center work. Turns, Adagio, Petite & Grande Allegro will be incorporated at age-appropriate levels. Emphasis is placed on healthy practice, positive self-image, and safe alignment. 

Attire: 

Leveled Classes (1,2,3,4): Leotard (any color), pink ballet tights, pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes. Ballet skirt if desired. Hair must be pulled up.

* Please no baggy clothes, sweatshirts, sweatpants, t-shirts, shorts, sports bras, or socks*
Intermediate/ Adv. Ballet: Black leotard, black skirt, pink tights, and pink canvas split-sole ballet shoes. Hair must be pulled up.

Pointe: Leotard, pink tights, ballet skirt, pointe shoes. Hair must be pulled up.
Pre-Pointe: Leotard, convertible or footless tights, barefeet & ballet shoes.

 

Jazz

All levels: Students will build on jazz progressions & combinations, including jumps and turns. Technique and style are emphasized through choreography.

Attire: Leotard (any color), jazz pants or dance shorts, and tan jazz shoes.

 

Tap

All Levels: Tap focuses on coordination, timing, and syncopated rhythm. Tap is an expression of movement through sound. Dancers will learn choreography by performing rhythm-based steps.

Attire: Leotard (any color) jazz pants or dance shorts, and black tap shoes.

Beg. Adult/Teen Tap: A tap class for those who want to learn for the first time or those interested in brushing up on past skills. Tap is a great dance style for building rhythm and a fun work out! Attire: Comfortable clothing and tap shoes.

Hip Hop

All levels: Hip hop is a class that combines many styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Dancers will work on developing strength, stamina, balance and coordination to successfully perform moves and skills.

Attire: Moveable dancewear and indoor sneakers (no jeans or street shoes please).

Contemporary

This inventive class explores many types of dance & works to make them unique. Students must be comfortable using improvisation, expressing emotion, exploring floor work, fall & recovery, partnering, weight sharing, and beginning acrobatic concepts. A Modern­ based warm up, incorporating spinal rotations, core strengthening & ballet technique builds strength & flexibility. Choreography will be a large part of class, enhanced by center work, across the floor exercises & improvisational exercises. 

Attire: Movable dancewear (clothing must be suitable for stretching as well as inversions). Bare feet are recommended but beginning dancers are welcome to use a contemporary-style shoe.

Acrobatics

Levels 1/2: Acro combines the floor work of gymnastics and Jazz movement. Students will increase their strength and flexibility and learn a variety of tumbling and gymnastics skills.

Attire: Leotard (any color), dance shorts, dance pants or footless tights, and bare feet.
